A Gardener‘s Home
The Gardener’s House emphasizes simplicity while embracing the challenge of a tight ADU footprint. Inspired by a rhythm of three staggered roofs, the repetition of rooflines creates a home defined by light, programmatic separation, and indoor/outdoor connection. Sunlight spills into the space, softening transitions and allowing plant life to thrive; most apparent under the skylight above the sauna, where steam from the shower meets sunlight, creating a warm, humid pocket where architecture and nature coexist.
Each of the three floors is organized by program. The first floor contains a kitchen, breakfast nook, and fireplace. The second floor opens into a living room with large windows leading to an outdoor patio, enhancing the indoor/outdoor experience. The top floor houses a bedroom and large bathroom, which includes a sauna. By scaling some spaces larger than conventional proportions, the home feels more luxurious and spacious than its compact footprint suggests.
I can’t wait to meet you!
